All content will be moved to a paid offline app
Everyone it’s time to unplug your virtual tents. Nintendo announced today that the adored Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game on smartphones will be sunsetted. On November 28, the campgrounds will officially shut down. The story — but fear not, they won’t leave you scrambling for somewhere to pitch your tent.
One piece of good news that Nintendo did deliver, however, is the announcement of a new app! For about the time Pocket Camp bids farewell, a separate offline app will launch for a cost. So, you can get on the road and spend less time finding a new spot to setup camp keeping your adventure moving right along.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp first step before closingIt will be the discontinuation of Pocket Camp Club subscription payments on October 28, one month prior to when the game ends forever. That being said, these features will not transfer over to the newly paid offline version of the game as it must be purchased separately.
Unfortunately, that also means Leaf Ticket sales are set to end on November 26th and you’ll only be able to use them up until the service is shut down. Leaf Tickets follow the same path, they will not transfer over to the new game you have paid for introduced above.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will go paid before its Freemium version closes Given that this is a one-time purchase and an offline-only game, certain features like Market Boxes—and even the ability to give or receive gifts from other players or visit your friends at their own Campsites—won’t be present in the new version. Games will contain further details on the paid app before the game finally closes.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp opened its doors on November 21, 2017 and by the time it shutters will have been in operation for just under seven years. The only mobile game has led to huge smash-hit success with Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch, and its sales helped secure a high place in the ranks of all-time best-sellers.
